Mapping Pedestrian Network Accessibility on OpenStreetMap
Kauê de Moraes Vestena
Accessibility matters affects people's lives on a daily basis. OSM ecosystem got all the tools for the mapping of the subject, concerning pedestrian networks. The mapping of sidewalks, that are the most frequent kind of pedestrian path, as separated geometries enables for richness of information and routing with the correct path length and connections. Still lots of people among OSM community are shy about the mapping of pedestrian networks. This kind of mapping benefits a lot from terrestrial imagery such as Mappilary that can be used for the inference of many fundamental attributes.
